THE PRIX D'AMERIQUE THROUGH AMERICAN EYES - DEAN HOFFMAN

"I was petrified before sitting in front of the mic for the first time. I had no idea what to expect! Although I had notes in front of me I had to think on my feet most of the time," says Megan about her live commentating debut. "Wyn Gruffudd, my co-commentator, was fantastic. He helped me relax so I did enjoy the experience. I'm sure Ray will offer the same support the second time round." Megan Taff was looking forward to the event in Ceredigion and to commentating on the Ceredigion Classic Final. Ten years ago Megan won the title driving the horse Merry Barron, owned by co-commentator Ray Jenkins. She remembers the day fondly. "I have very fond memories of that day," says Megan, "Ray had asked me to drive. There was quite a chance I would do well, but we didn't expect to win at all! "It was an exceptionally nice day. I won the heat and everyone was delighted but then in the final everything fell into place. I remember racing down the home straight and Ray was jumping up and down! "It was nice that someone local won and somebody who had been in the business for a while too. It was a great experience." . Read more.
