Hello, I hope you’re all coping with The Elements! Hereford & Borders HRC dates for your diaries- and please note that the first two have had to be re-scheduled.
SUNDAY, 28TH FEBRUARY. QUESTION TIME WITH GORDON GARNETT at Wellington Social Club, 2.30pm. Entrance free, but a raffle and small auction. Light refreshments.(donations welcome to all three!!). All welcome. Anything you want to know –NOW’s YOUR CHANCE! SATURDAY 27th MARCH. RACENIGHT (Horses, not Snails!!) at Wellington Social Club, 7.30pm. Entrance £1. Raffle prizes welcome. Sponsors of races (£10) and horses (£5) still needed! SUNDAY, 18TH APRIL.WELLFIELD STUD OPEN DAY. By very kind invitation of Roy Sheedy, 10am-4pm. £5 entrance per person to include a cup of tea. 12-14 two and three year olds for sale which will be ‘breezed up’ for all to see, yearlings, foals, plus Village Connection and two new imported stallions……plenty to look at!! Tack stall, light refreshments available. DON’T MISS THIS MARVELLOUS OPPORTUNITY!

21-Dec-2009  THANKYOU FROM H&B HRC
I just want to thank all of you who came to the Awards Lunch at The Bunch of Carrots today and made it such a fabulous afternoon/evening! Congratulations to all the very deserving award winners. So many raffle prizes – and we didn’t have to rope and hog tie anyone to sit on Santa’s knee after all!! In fact, Santa was an absolute STAR, I thought. Again, we’ve made a bit of money for the racing while having a bit of fun. What nice people you are. THANKYOU for all your help.
Christmas has escaped me again, but now I can look forward to the new season with more optimism than I’ve felt for a while. Happy New Year. Stella x

Hello all! As you know H&B HRC meet every third Wednesday of the month, 8pm at The Black Swan, Much Dewchurch - which is this Wednesday coming. Raffle prizes welcome!
Those coming to the Awards Lunch next Sunday, please dont forget your little wrapped present for Santa's sack and your £1 for sitting on his knee...Ladies don't forget the pepper spray for the occasion! The post code for The Bunch Of Carrots, Hampton Bishop is HR1 4JR for those with Sat Nav. Raffle prizes and auction items VERY welcome as we don't put anything on the meal - you pay what it costs, £19.95 for three excellent courses etc (minus £5.00 deposit of course), it's about having a nice time!
Our January monthly 'fund raiser' is 'An Afternoon With Gordon Garnett' at Wellington Social Club on Sunday 16th January at 14.30pm. 01-Dec-2009  BHRC CLASSIC RACES
A busy but successful Committee Meeting of the BHRC was held on Sunday 22nd November 2009 with a full schedule of business and good attendance.
Conclusions were arrived at that Classic Races, such as the BHRC Sire Stakes, should no longer be restricted to half mile hard tracks and thus the tendering process will be formally opened up to other venues. Much discussion was held on the place and future of the Classic Races such as the Two Year Old Futurity, Three Year Old Derby, European Pacing Classic and Roosevelt Trot, in the landscape of British Harness Racing. It was felt that instead of the BHRC sponsoring these races, maybe a fund should be set up, managed by a sub-committee with delegated authority, and promoters invited to come up with innovative ideas leading to a bid for sponsorship. The fraternity is invited to convey their opinions on this so that the matter can be debated at the next meeting.

Next meeting to be held on Tuesday 8th December 09 in The Silks Bar, Tir Prince at 7.30pm
This meeting is another important one. We need to vote on a number of points raised at the latest BHRC meeting and consider the plans for an Autumn series in 2010 and get an update on the points raised at the last meeting.

Following the BHRC Committee meeting on Sunday 22nd November 2009, a provisional fixture list has been posted. All dates at this stage do remain provisional, however, the BHRC do not anticipate many changes.

23-Nov-2009  BHRC SIRE STAKES SERIES 2010
Following recent uncertainties regarding the future of York Harness Raceway, it was suggested that the restriction allowing only half mile hard tracks to stage Classic Races, be lifted for the time being. This decision was confirmed at the BHRC Committee meeting held on 22nd November 2009.
I am therefore advising any track that wishes to be considered to stage the series in 2010 to let me have their tender by 1st December 2009, with their preferred dates, by email to barrypdelaney@btinternet.com. This information will be held in confidence pending the forthcoming Sire Stakes Committee meeting when a decision will be taken.

Following the meeting held at The Anchor Inn, Whixley on Wednesday 28th October 09, and the support pledged by those that attended, the decision has been taken that Harness Racing will commence at York Harness Raceway in 2010.
