Tir Prince Celebrates Silver Jubiliee By Staging Unique Race

Much revered Tir Prince Harness Raceway at Towyn celebrates 25 years showcasing the sport of harness racing this with a unique “greys only” contest to be held at the venue this coming Saturday night. Never been staged before in the British Isles, this novel event has already attracted worldwide media interest and entries have flooded in from Ireland, England and Scotland in addition to the locally trained Welsh runners who all want to grab a piece of history.
Speaking about the event Adam Williams, owner of Tir Prince commented “I’m amazed at the public reaction we’ve had since announcing our intention to stage this unique race and what better way to celebrate the track’s Silver Jubilee than with a field full of silver horses pacing like ghosts through the night under the floodlights of Tir Prince”
Just like their thoroughbred counterparts who took Desert Orchid to their hearts harness racing fans love to see a majestic grey horse in full flow and some ever popular household names have already thrown their hats into the ring to take part in this contest.
Irish raider Oakwood Outlaw (pictured) could be the fly in the ointment to likely favourite Blue Incredible and his six other rivals. Bred by the race sponsors Oakwood Stud and now in the care of Dublin based Alan Wallace, he was a multiple winner last season. Wellfield Ghost representing local businessman Roy Sheedy is also being campaigned with this race in mind – he produced his best at Aberytstwyth last week with a big heat win before failing to overcome a back mark in the final.
Four feature races for UK/Ireland’s best two and three year olds complement the fixture and the night will wind up with “The Big Guns” for our best Free For Allers where current star Stoneriggs Mystery tries for the hat trick after tough wins here and at Aberystwyth. Placed to him in both those races, speedy Welsh star Meadowbranch Josh will try to reverse those decisions.
The big nine race card commences at 7.30.
