Sulky Safety

17Jul

So far this year the BHRC has received four reports of sulkies (racebikes) collapsing in a race, three of these incidents involved sulkies built in the UK. As the Governing Body we take this situation very seriously and two of the bikes have been made available for further examination by an expert in this field. When thinking of buying a new sulky, bear in mind that a factory built cart by a recognised manufacturer will carry better guarantees, both in quality of materials and craftsmanship. Accidents can happen at anytime, we all accept that but we would like to ask all drivers to give serious consideration to what cart they use, not only for themselves but also for their fellow competitors.
The BHRC intend to publish the findings into these incidents and further action may be required.
