RACING HILL

31Jan

As Racing Hill retires from racing and takes up new pastures to stand at Stud, we look at the amazing achievements of this colt. Bred and owned by Tom Hill, originally from Lancaster, and of Danny Hill, Richard Hill and Margaret Hill fame, Racing Hill is sure to be a sought after stallion.

Out of the American Ideal mare Chasing Ideals, by Roll With Joe (p,2,1:53.1; 3,1:48.2 $1,805,102) who has sired more than 30 1:55 performers, was 2015 Leading Money winning 2YO Pacing Stallion and whose first two crops made over 6.5 million on the tracks. Other stakes winners include No Clouds Bluechip (p3,1:50.1f $363,153), That’s The Ticket (p2,1:50 $268,521) and Roll Away Joe (p,3,1:51.3f $334,081).

As a 2 year old, Racing Hill shone early winning races such as the Bluegrass Stakes, an elimination of the Breeders Crown and the International Stallion Stakes division where he set a mark of 1:51.2.
HARNESSLINK – Racing Hill Sharpest in Stallion Stakes

In December 2016, as a 3YO he was listed as the third leading money winner of all pacers with $1,646,276.

In July 2016 in the final of the Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids, Racing Hill recorded a career best of 1:48.4 in the slop.
STC – Racing Hill Dazzles in Adios

He won numerous stakes races including the $500,000 Max Hempt Final, the $500,000 Messenger Stakes, the $400,000 Adios and was a fast-closing second in a photo finish for win in the Meadowlands Pace and a strong second in the North America Cup.

The highlight of the year and his career was his performance in the Breeders Crown for 3 year old colts and geldings in a stakes record of 1:48. The previous record of 1:48.3 had been set by Somebeachsomewhere in 2008. Just to add more prestige to the win, it was Tony Alagna’s 1000th career victory as a trainer.

STC – Racing Hill Retired to Stud

Perhaps Mr Hill will ship some straws back to the UK to inject some of the ‘Hill’ magic into those bred and racing out of the Forest of Bowland.
