BINCHESTER – Sunday 29th July

For those travelling to Binchester this coming Sunday, there are a couple or road closures which may affect journeys:

A688 through Staindrop will be closed on Sunday 29th July for 5 days

The Batts road to Binchester via Bishop Auckland Market Place is currently closed, therefore the only access to the track is via A688 between Park Head Bank and Spennymoor roundabout

Directions:
North on the A1, leave the A1 at junction 60 signed posted Sedgefield Bishop Auckland, take 1st exit heading towards Bishop Auckland continue on this road for about 3miles until you come to around about, this is Rushyford, Take 3rd exist (straight over) 50 yards to next roundabout take 2nd exit towards Bishop Auckland. Follow road for about 2 miles at the next roundabout take 2nd exit towards Bishop Auckland (Coundon by pass) follow road for about 2 miles until next roundabout take third exit towards Spennymoor, garage on the left 1/4 m park head hotel on the right. Keep on this road down a steep bank then up a steep bank, once at the top of the bank follow road for a 1/4 m you will see a jet garage on your right take the left turning opposite the garage, signed posted Binchester. Follow the road for about 2 miles, take first left turn sign posted Binchester. Follow the road for about a mile track on the right you can see the track from the road on the approach, drive slow,y as you can miss the turn into the field.

South on the A1 from Scotland leave A1 at junction 61 sign posted Peterlee, Spennymoor A177 take 3rd exit follow road for about 1m at roundabout take 2nd exist follow road to next roundabout which is Thinford just before the rounabout you will see a sign on the left for garden flagstones and Thinford saddlery. Take 2nd exist towards Spennymoor and Bishop Auckland. Mini roundabout 1st exist, next 2 roundabouts 2nd exist at the 3 rd roundabout 1st exist, half a mile in front of you, you will see a jet garage on the left, turn right opposite garage sign posted Binchester. Follow the road for about 2 miles, take first left turn sign posted Binchester. Follow the road for about a mile track on the right you can see the track from the road on the approach, drive slowly as you can miss the turn into the field.
