2016 LE TROT EVENTS – Eligibility and Monies Won

28Jan

With the introduction of the flexible 5-for-5 system for Le Trot events in 2016 there is a greater chance we will attract ‘foreign’ visitors. We hope so, because it will enable us to run more races and see some interesting newcomers. And it is line with the Le Trot objective of encouraging international Le Trot races.
We appreciate some visitors will only want to come once, so that is why we have decided to offer an alternative to the 5-for-5. It will be possible for any eligible TF to enter for any Le Trot race by paying a fee of £170 (in addition to the normal entry fee of £80). Obviously if you enter three times this way you will have paid £500, so it would be sensible to take the 5-for-5 option in many cases. But we want to make it possible to come once, while remaining fair to those who buy into the 5-for-5 scheme that enables us to sustain an attractive programme of racing.
It is important to be clear about eligibility and also about the monies won starting point for those NOT entering GB through one of our Sales. We have to offer protection to those who participate in our Sales and give them a good chance of getting a return on the lottery ticket they have bought – or will be buying.
So here’s the situation.
- Any French trotter that has not entered GB or Ireland through a Le Trot organised sale is eligible, if it has not won €25,000 or more in mainland Europe since 1 January 2014. Its earnings over this period will be converted to £ and divided by 10 to give its starting monies won for our events. For example, if a horse comes direct from mainland Europe having earned €16,000 since 1.1.14, it will have a starting monies won of £1,200. (We will use 1.33 in converting € to £ and always round to nearest £50.)
- A French trotter which has raced in Ireland in 2014 and/or 2015 will have its total monies won there converted at 1.33 and its 2016 earnings progressively added at the same exchange rate.
- A French trotter located in Ireland but not having raced there, will have its monies won previously in mainland Europe since 1.1.14 (converted as in 2) and then have the money it wins in Ireland added progressively. For example, Beeper has just come to Ireland having won €9,570 in France since 1.1.14. This translates to £700 for Le Trot. As he races in Ireland his monies won will be added to this (converted at 1.33 and rounded to nearest £50).
- A French trotter bought through our March sale will start with no monies won, irrespective of its earnings anywhere (as has been the case in the past two years).
