BHRC COMMITTEE UPDATE

12May

The BHRC Committee discussed aspects of the 2020 Season on Monday night, for the sake of clarity it has been agreed there will be no racing in Great Britain before July 1st.
Government regulation permitting, it is hoped work-outs and qualifiers can be staged in June, however we must also bear in mind regulations differ between the countries of Great Britain.
Due to the current extraordinary circumstances it has been decided there will be Penalty Free racing throughout the 2020 Season, details of which will be announced soon.
The Promoters and BHRC are still hoping to stage the Classic and stakes races, this includes the possible rescheduling of the Dragon races in light of the cancellation of the Tregaron Festival.
As ever, we will constantly monitor the coronavirus situation and changing government restrictions, we are not at the point of giving up on the 2020 Season just yet but if the situation does not improve in the next couple of months, then a difficult decision may have to be made.
However, we want to remain positive and work towards a racing programme which could be extended into the early winter.
We are still researching the possibility of a live streaming pay per view model, this would obviously create revenue and be a great help should any meetings be covered behind closed doors.
Raslab, the company negotiating a deal with bookmaker clients on behalf of Tir Prince and York, have assured us potential deals remain in the wings.
At Monday night’s Committee Meeting presentations were heard from Mike Evans and Robert Millichap regarding the Trot Britain governance of all trotting races and restructuring of the BHRC Voting System (one person one vote), respectively.
The Committee will consult with their members about the aforementioned proposals in the coming weeks.

The BHRC Directors feel, with both the Company Secretary and Office Administrator currently working successfully from remote locations, the lease of the Goole office will cease in the coming months.

Your continued support and understanding is appreciated by the BHRC.
