Mr JOHN LOVE

    • At Musselburgh Racecourse on Saturday 22nd July 2017, a blood sample was obtained from the horse Salvado Bello. Following the sampling, the blood was tested by LCH where the prohibited substances Theophylline and Caffeine were identified, reported and confirmed. The presence of these substances being a breach of Section Y of the BHRC Rules and Regulations.
    • The horse Salvado Bello was disqualified from the race competed in on 22nd July 2017 and suspended from racing.
    • A hearing was convened on Friday 15th September 2017 to examine and adjudicate this case.
    • The panel consisted of BHRC Stewards; Jackie Maguire, Lisa Knott and Bret Strickland.
    • The BHRC Presented the findings of LCH which Mr Love confirmed that he was happy with the test.
    • The panel heard submissions from Mr Love – Mr Love denied the administration of the substances reported in the blood sample but accepted responsibility as trainer of the horse.
    • The panel determined that Mr Love was in breach of Sections Y17, Y18 and Y13a of the BHRC Rules and Regulations.
    • The panel applied the following penalties:
      [i] Y17 – £1500 fine
      Suspension of all licences for a period of 12 months from 22nd September 2017
      Mr Love to pay the full costs of the BHRC
      [ii] Y10 – The horse Salvado Bello to be disqualified from the race it ran in at Musselburgh on 22nd July
      The horse, Salvado Bello, to be suspended from racing for a period of six months from 22nd September 2017
      The horse, Salvado Bello, must pass a BHRC Integrity Test before becoming eligible to be entered to race. The owner to bear the costs of this test and any hearing pursuant to that test
      Any handicap penalties incurred on the date of sampling shall be retained on the handicap mark relating to the horse Salvado Bello.
