MUSSELBURGH – 10th September 2016

15Sep

Musselburgh staged racing on the famous course for the third time in the 2016 season and the second time as part of a flat fixture with three races running for a total of £5,500.
Two pacing races were staged and one top grade Le Trot, all of which were run before the flat fixture with leading Bookmaker William Hills taking online bets. Feedback is that there was a good volume of bets placed on the three races and Racing UK showed the highlights later in the day.
The first race was action packed with the local hopeful Yokalady leading them for most of the 1m3f, only to tire into 5th with the first four horses finishing within 2 lengths of each other, with Lyons Premier getting up on the shadows of the post to snatch victory under Grant Cullen from The Apprentice and Tommy Camden.
The second race had 9 trotters line up and was a great spectacle to watch, with trainer David Taff getting a quick fire double with Sacha of Carless winning under John Foy, from Salvado Bello and the Scottish hope Viva Sautonne running a super race to finish third.
The last race saw a breath taking performance by Roy Sheedy’s Wellfield Official, who always saves the best of his form for Musselburgh. Andrew Cairns sent him straight into a clear lead and never looked like being pegged.
All officials and representatives of the racecourse were really happy with the racing and stated they felt the public had been treated to some great entertainment and hopefully there will be similar ventures at Musselburgh in 2017 and on.
