Musselburgh 2020

Musselburgh 2020 – Dates Confirmed 14/15 July (Tuesday & Wednesday)

For those interested in keeping harness racing going at Musselburgh we have some great news. The Musselburgh Fair Day Association have been in negotiations for many weeks now with the management of the racecourse and have finally secured dates for 2020 – 14th & 15th July.
Musselburgh is harness racings jewel in the crown. Its been running for 127 years now and the Famous Musselburgh Pace Cup is the most prestigious of them all. Everybody wants to win this prize and have their name engraved on it for eternity. The pinnacle of the sport, the Mount Everest of harness racing in the British Isles. This year we are going back to holding it on its traditional days of Tuesday and Wednesday, and we firmly believe that this will be the catalyst in making this meeting the ultimate showcasing of the sport in 2020.
The racecourse itself however, do not wish to run the meeting themselves but have offered the MFDA the option to rent the venue for the 2 days in order to allow the Famous Musselburgh Pace to be staged this year. We believe that with so many big classic meetings disappearing year after year, our heritage is disappearing with it and we are determined to keep Musselburgh the biggest meeting of them all alive – but many of you already know that staging this meeting is very, very costly.
In order to make Musselburgh happen in 2020 we will need your support. We will need sponsors, we will need entries (pacers and trotters) and we will need punters – and everybody can do their bit no matter how small. Every harness racing enthusiast who loves the sport in the UK and Ireland will need to get behind this meeting in order to make it a success.
If you feel you can help out in someway, please do not hesitate to contact Anthony Fettah, Craig Stevenson or any member of the MFDA to discuss sponsorship opportunities whether it be a single race/heat or the even one of the big finals the Hurricane Pace or the Famous Musselburgh Pace itself.
Please be aware that this is a “non-profit” making initiative and if the meeting does make any money it will be ploughed back into staging the same meeting in 2021. So get the dates into your diary now and book your holidays off work. Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th July – Musselburgh 2020, lets all get behind this meeting and make it great again!
