BHRC ANNUAL AWARDS 2018 VOTE

** VOTING OPEN DIRECT TO LICENCE HOLDERS **

Thanks to the Clubs and Associations that got involved in the restructured process of putting forward nominees for the BHRC Annual Awards. We didn’t quite get the the nine per category as some horses were put forward by more than one area. BUT we do have a more extensive list for licence holders to peruse and some difficult decisions to be made.

The vote is now OPEN online through the BHRC Website for Licence Holders to cast their votes and determine the winner of each category.

To be able to vote you will need a Username and Password for the BHRC Online Entry System. Once you are a registered member, you simply enter your name and licence number and cast your vote from the lists of nominees.

Please note:
Each licence holder can only vote once. First submission will be accepted as cast votes. Any amended or duplicated submissions will be void.
Any submissions made from persons not licensed by the BHRC during the 2018 season will not be counted and will be void.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE
The winner of each of the categories will be published and then go forward to a second vote, opened again direct to Licence Holders (via the internet). The winner of this second vote will be kept under wraps until the Awards Event and announced as the PEOPLE’s CHOICE (this replaces the current ‘Horse of the Year’).

PACER OF THE YEAR
NB. Pacer & Mare of the Year are for horses 4YO+
Coalford Tetrick
An ultra-consistent Free For All horse who in three of his four victories in 2018 was driven by newcomer Aaron Williams. The pair also set a new Track Record at Amman Valley for the 2 mile distance in a time of 4.07.1.
Evenwood Sonofagun
2017 Horse of the Year, ‘Gunner’ got back into stride at Portmarnock in August and recorded victories in his last four starts – A Free For All at Portmarnock, The Standardbred Horse Sales Co Free For All at Tregaron, The Billy Williams Memorial Crock of Gold Final at Tir Prince and the High Grade Pace at Wolverhampton.
Father Ted
A nominee in the new Standardbred Horse Sales Co Star Maker Series, he was triumphant in a heat at Amman Valley and the champion in the Final at Tir Prince. He went on in August to win heat and final of the Strata Florida at Tregaron.
Robhall
With 25 starts up to October, this 7yo gelding has had 7 wins at Corbiewood including an Open Preferred Final in June and the Dodo Johnson Open Preferred Heat & Final in September.
Rhyds Rock Star
On his first outing this 4yo Hasty Hall/Tonda Star progeny set a new Track Record at Tir Prince of 1.56.1. He went on to record another three wins – the Senior Dragon at Tregaron, the Breeders Crown at Tir Prince and a Crock of Gold Heat also at Tir Prince. Rock Star was also third placed in the Crock of Gold Final behind Evenwood Sonofagun and Miraculous.
Tommy Camden
A 6yo son of No Pan Intended, Tommy was winner of a Heat of the Famous Musselburgh Pace and second in the Final behind Rhyds Passion, and champion in the Bells Field Heat and Final in August.

MARE OF THE YEAR
NB. Pacer & Mare of the Year are for horses 4YO+
Lady Mary
A staunch supporter of Corbiewood, this Playwithafulldeck/Marys Solitaire mare has achieved five wins, including two heats of the Greentree Standardbred sponsored mares series, a STAGBI Broodmares Pace and two Open Preferred Handicaps.
Mattriarch
A tough mare who started the season with four straight wins; STAGBI Mares Pace at Amman Valley, two WWHRA Mares Series races at Evenjobb & Ivington and a Preferred Draw Mares Pace at Amman Valley. She ended the season on a high scoring her fifth season win at Almeley in the WWHRA Mares Series.
Rhyds Passion
2017 Mare of the Year, she has positively stormed 2018 with victories in a Crock of Gold Heat, a Welsh Classic Heat and a Ceredigion Park Lodge Heat , but of course she is champion of Heat and Final of the Famous Musselburgh Pace.
Rhyds Nightlife
Placed at the business end of many prestigious races in 2018 including third in the Tregaron Spring Handicap, second in a Heat and the Final of the Travis Perkins at Ceredigion and second place in a Heat and the Final of the Welsh Classic at Tregaron. Nightlife was victorious at Tir Prince in a STAGBI Broodmares Pace finishing in 1.59.32.
Springhill Ruby
With a 50% strike rate in 2018, Ruby has won Heat and Final of the Appleby Spring Sunday Handicap and also Heat and Final of the Trot Talk TV Handicap at Wolsingham.
Teatime Preacher
Winner of six out of nine starts, she started with a winning streak of four which ended when she was unplaced in the Hurricane Pace Final at Musselburgh. She won a Heat of the Peter Wallace Memorial at Binchester and went on to win the Welsh Classic Final at Tregaron.

TROTTER OF THE YEAR
Amazing
Victorious in his first two outings at Appleby and Tir Prince, this trotter truly lived up to his name at the end of the season when winner of the Malcolm Ali Memorial at Wolverhampton. A proud moment for all connections.
Diamant De Godrel
A late comer to the season, this 5yo started racing in July and scored four wins from 7 starts; the Fleet Hire Silver at Musselburgh, two Silver Aged Le Trot at Tir Prince and the £10,000 TrotBritain Le Trot Aged Gold Championship.
Enez Leman
Only out of the top three in two of his 2018 runs, this 4yo has racked up victories at Ceredigion, Amman Valley, Tregaron, Almeley and Tir Prince where she won the £3,000 TrotBritan Le Trot 4yo Silver Championship.
Univers De Crennes
A very consistent performer who has only been outside the business end of races on three occasions. He has recorded victories at Cilmery, Evenjobb, Tir Prince and Almeley.
Valseur Du Cygne
With a straight run of six wins in 2018 from his eight starts, he is champion of the Appleby Gold Le Trot, the Pikehall Gold Le Trot, the Ceredigion Gold Le Trot and the BHRC Le Trot TrotBritain Roosevelt. He also set a new Track Record at Tir Prince of 3.06.1 for the 1½ mile distance.

3YO COLT OF THE YEAR
Immortal John
Raced mainly in graded racing as opposed to juvenile stakes in 2018, he has scored six victories including Heat & Final of the Walton Committee Cup at Evenjobb, a Heat of the Lloyds Chip Shop Challenge at Lampeter and his last outing of the season at Almeley in graded company.
Matticulous
2YO Colt of the Year in 2017, he only missed out on the winners enclosure in one of six 2018 starts. He is champion of the NWHOA 3YO Colts, the BHRC Colts Derby, BHRC Sire Stakes 3YO, Oakwood Stud 3YO at Portmarnock and the Little Welsh Dragon. Quite a CV.
Merrington Movinup
Stable mate of the above, he dipped into open company racing at the start of the season and won the Tregaron Spring Heat & Final. He settled into juvenile races for the rest of the season and was victorious in the Appleby Spring 3YO Championship, a division of the Ceredigion 3YO and the Musselburgh Grass Derby which took him to a tally of five straight wins. He also raced in the Breeders Crown finishing fourth and the Oakwood Stud at Portmarnock finishing second.

3YO FILLY OF THE YEAR
Greenhill Hanover
Aimed at the stakes races, this filly raced nine times in 2018 and conquered the fields at Tir Prince in the BHRC Fillies Derby and at Ceredigion in a division of the 3YO races. She was well placed in other races including the NWHOA 3YO Fillies, the SHRC Derby, the Musselburgh Grass Derby and the Little Welsh Dragoness.
Lyons Bullet
Raced nine times this season she hit a mix of open and stakes races. She scored her first win at Ceredigion in a Maiden race and scored again at Tregaron in her last outing. Bullet was also placed well in the BHRC Sire Stakes Fillies at Tir Prince in July.
Rhyds Sapphire
A cracking start to the season saw this filly score victory in a Maiden at Tregaron, and a second win at Appleby which took her into open company. The stakes races beckoned then where she fared well with a second in the NWHOA 3YO Fillies, third in the BHRC Fillies Derby, second in the BHRC Sire Stakes, third in the Breeders Crown and second in the Little Welsh Dragoness at Tregaron. She topped off the season with two wins at Haugh Field when taking Heat and Final of the Jimmy Rennie Handicap.

2YO COLT OF THE YEAR
Northern Pride
A very lightly raced colt from Artomatic Love by Bettors Delight, he had two wins from his three season starts. In those two was the pinnacle of the 2YO stakes, the Vincent Delaney 2YO Colts Final. He was also victorious on home turf at Corbiewood in the SHRC 2YO Futurity.
Oakwoodinittowinit
From eight starts this season, this colt was in the winners enclosure five times. He scored victory in the Portmarnock Sire Stakes 2YO, the BHRC Colts Futurity, the Breeders Crown, Junior Welsh Dragon and BHRC Sire Stakes, scoring just over £13,500 in prize money in his first season.

2YO FILLY OF THE YEAR
Loosechange
This filly by Forafewdollarsmore is champion of the Ceredigion 2YO and a heat of the Breeders Crown staged at Corbiewood. She was also placed third in the Breeders Crown Gold at Tir Prince, a VDM Fillies Heat at Portmarnock, the Junior Welsh Dragoness at Tregaron and the SHRC Futurity at Corbiewood.
Stashthecash
Stable mate of the above, this filly scored in her first outing winning a Maiden pace at Corbiewood. She went on to compete in the juvenile sector for the remainder of the season being placed second in the Breeders Crown Heat at Corbiewood, third in the Musselburgh Futurity and second in the SHRC Futurity back at Corbiewood.
The Mocking Jay
From the successful mare Apopka Denise, this filly struck success in two of her four starts. All starts at Tir Prince she was second in the NWHOA Fillies, second in the BHRC Fillies Futurity and winner of the Breeders Crown 2YO Fillies Heat and the Breeders Crown 2YO Fillies Gold Final.
Two Left Feet
A filly who got into her stride at the end of the season where her last two outings led her to the winners enclosure. She competed all season in the juvenile sector, with a couple of thirds and a second and fourth place respectively in the VDM Fillies Heat and Final at Portmanock. Her victories came at Tir Prince in the Breeders Crown Fillies Silver and BHRC Fillies Sire Stakes.

OVERSEAS HORSE OF THE YEAR
Any horse that has connections to an IHRA registered owner or trainer in the relevant season can be nominated under this category
Oakwood Starcam
Right at the start this filly set a new Track Record for 2YO Fillies at Tir Prince in the Brightwells sponsored NWHOA Fillies setting 2.01.1 for the mile. She is also winner of the BHRC Fillies Futurity at Tir Prince and Heat and Final of the Diamond Creek sponsored Vincent Delaney Memorial 2YO Fillies at Portmarnock.
Robyn Camden
Winner of this category in the 2017 season, Robyn scored seven triumphs from seven starts in 2018. Added to her resume are; NWHOA 3YO Fillies, Robert Grendon Memorial Heat and Final, M50 Skip Hire 3YO, Breeders Crown Heat & Final and Oakwood Stud 3YO.
