The BHRC have received the following via email from Mick Welling:

‘To BHRC Council
It is with regret that I have to inform the Council that all activities at York Harness Raceway are suspended pending the sale of the premises.
I have and will continue to inform perspective buyers of the potential to rent out the track for qualifiers and racing purposes. Having been informed that Yorkshire Harness Racing Committee are happy to organise future race meetings at York as they have done over the past two years, they are ready and willing to negotiate terms with new owners to ensure harness racing continues at York.
I would like nothing more then to see racing continue at York as I have worked hard over a number of years to improve the track and its facilities.
This decision wasn’t taken lightly, I have to put the needs and wishes of my family first and foremost.

All fixtures approved for York during the 2018 season are now available for other interested Harness Racing Promoters to submit applications:
April – 21st & 28th
May – 7th, 13th & 19th
June – 2nd, 17th & 23rd
August – 4th, 5th & 11th
September – 22nd
October – 6th & 13th
