    It is with great sadness that the BHRC report the passing of Lord Langford on 12th November 2017.

    A long standing patron of the sport of Harness Racing and the BHRC, Lord Langford was heavily involved in the establishing of a national governing body in the British Harness Racing Club and the creation of its constitution, rules and regulations.

    • At Chelmsford Racecourse on Tuesday 15th August 2017, blood samples were obtained from the horses Sacha Of Carless and Ugolin Viking. Following the sampling, the blood was tested by LCH, where the prohibited substances Benzoylecgonine (BZE) and Ecgonine Methyl Ester (EME) were identified, reported and confirmed.     It is with great sadness to announce that Mr Alan Coates (husband to Nora, father to Alison, Martin and Heather) has passed away suddenly. He was a great supporter of Harness Racing, at Kendal, Manchester, Chasewater and York as well as numerous grass tracks. Owner of the great Kathleen's Decision, Spud Be Good and Calif's Katie J to name a few.

    The funeral service will be held on Monday 30 October 2017, at 11.00 a.m. at St Michael’s Church, Cockerham, Lancaster, LA2 0EF.

    Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond the control of the BHRC, the British Pacing Classic for 2017 has been cancelled.

    The BHRC, having regard to sections P4 and X12 of the rules, have explored options of relocation, but unfortunately determined that the race will be void for 2017.

    ALL fees paid in regard of the British Pacing Classic 2017 will be refunded within the next 14 days.
